A Little Bit S'More is a casual stacker game in which the player plays through the life of an unnamed character who dedicates their life to making s'mores, following a long family tradition.

During this game, I took on the role as a sound designer, as this game was created using GameMaker Studio. As well, during this game, for the first time ever I took on the role as composer for the game creating all original music.

For the composition and sound design, I used my regular DAW, Reaper. For the composition specifically, everything was performed by myself, except the drums which were done using a drum machine. Most of the instruments heard except the guitars (which were recorded) were done using Native Instruments plugins. The piano was done using The Gentleman. The synths were done using Kontakt plugins. The orchestra was recorded using the BBC symphony Orchestra by Spitfire Audio.

Fun facts:

  • Early ideas for the game included having the player navigate a platform based environment as a sheep trying to get to it's owners dream.

  • The music for level 3 is loosely based on TWRP - Phantom Racer Ft. The Protomen. We wanted something upbeat and intense for the competition level.

  • The music for the final level was intentionally made up of previous songs as a means to invoke sentimentality in the player in terms of the characters journey to that point.
